1000 Coats For Hope

1000 Coats For Hope

Our Fourth Annual Coats for Hope Coat Drive was held
Saturday, October 18 thru Saturday, November 1, 2014!

New Hope Foundation’s 1000 Coats for Hope Project is an annual November drive and is one of the basic needs programs offered at the Empowerment Center. Our goal each year is to collect and distribute at least one thousand new and gently used coats plus winter outerwear and blankets.

Each year as the weather turns cold, North Texas outreach organizations are flooded with requests for coats and blankets, but there are never enough. New Hope Foundation has made it their mission to ensure no one is turned away!

During our 2014 Coat Drive, we collected new and gently used coats, jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, and scarves, gloves and mittens for adults, children and infants (we usually especially need items for children and infants, sizes 12 Months up to 5T and Youth 5/6 – 12).

Highlight on a Special 2014 Coat Drive Donor – James Corrigan:

Instead of wishing for birthday gifts this year, young James Corrigan decided to ask for coats so that he could donate them to our 1000 Coats For Hope coat drive!  The photos below feature the birthday boy, James Corrigan (shown with a red belt at center of photos) and his philanthropic buddies with their coat collection!  Thanks to James and his buddies for such selfless acts of kindness.  Way to go boys!

Also, a special thanks to Master Lee’s Taekwondo Studio for hosting the event!

Our red collection bin was located at Sewell Buick GMC for our 2013 drive. Thanks to SEWELL for helping us collect more coats!  We also want to thank Linda and Larry Long at Minuteman Press in Dallas (map) for serving as a collection location for the third year in a row.

Here are just some of the photos of the coats as they were being gathered, sorted, and packed for shipping that afternoon to Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief, where our very own New Hope Foundation co-Director Reverend Johnny R. Flowers is already overseeing their distribution to our less advantaged neighbors.

1000 Coats For Hope Coat Drive 2013 a huge success! Thank you to everyone who donated!
